The Data Scientist at Rebel & Co. works to create clarity and direction that is data driven and closely tied to business objectives. Working with various types of data, the Data Scientist is responsible for identifying valuable data points and creating data models that drive decision making. With a passion for machine learning and deep analysis, you are proficient with working with large data sets, structured and unstructured data sets, combine models through ensemble modeling, and a thorough expertise in statistical methods and mathematics. 

Responsibilities:

  • Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges

  • Identify and integrate new datasets that can be leveraged in product capabilities

  • Work closely with engineering teams and research strategists to strategize and execute the development of data products

  • Execute analytical experiments methodically to help solve various problems and make a true impact across various domains and industries

  • Identify relevant data sources and sets to mine for client business needs, and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variables

  • Devise and utilize algorithms and models to mine big data stores, perform data and error analysis to improve models, and clean and validate data for uniformity and accuracy

  • Analyze data for trends and patterns, and interpret data with a clear objective in mind

  • Build & implement analytical models into production by collaborating with software developers and machine learning engineers

  • Clearly communicate the logic behind data decisions and justifications for business recommendations

  • Work with visual designers to accurately communicate data in to meaningful and actionable visualizations

  • Present information using data visualization techniques

  • This is a freelance position, on a per-project basis. Opportunity for full-time position is a possibility for the right candidate.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, applied mathematics, or related discipline

  • 5+ years experience in data science

  • Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis

  • Experience across industries, verticals, or focuses, a plus

  • Advanced pattern recognition and predictive modeling experience

  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, SQL, and programming languages  (i.e., Java/Python, SAS) 

  • Comfort working in a dynamic, research-oriented group with several ongoing concurrent projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in stats, applied math, or related discipline

  • 2+ years of project management experience 

  • Professional certifications, preferred
